The Return of Black Seed

Thoughts on the project? Thoughts on the library editions of the journals? Thoughts on its relationship with Green Anarchy magazine, the 2010s and the milieu at large?

The attacks on LBC over it and Atassa really hindered it's potency. It lost something special in the middle of its run. Given that, still a bit surprised at this attempt at necromancy.

Who's the journal for? What does it want to say? The decision to request writings only from indigenous is noteworthy. How did the project move from terrorism, anti-natalism, herbalism into being more and more consumed by id pol and why?

it's a different group that is editing it. the project has already gone through, i think they said, 3 stages, with various editing groups. aragorn! was the only person there for the whole thing.

this is an almost entirely new group, afaict.

The library editions of Black Seed really miss the images. The aesthetic is lost without them. If whoever was uploading them had access to the original files, why not copy and paste the images over too? Still, it's good to have the plaintext to work with. One day I'll put together book editions of each journal, images (scanned) and all.

Hey look it's that twitter person. Nice of you to drop by. While you're here, can I recommend you spend less time tweeting and more time reading, especially reading the writings that you're so upset about. It'll make you less insufferable. It might make you less upset too.

Here's a taste of what I think the flavor of the new Black Seed will be: https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/klee-benally-ya-iishjaashch-ili…

Interested to hear your thoughts on that one, if you can tear yourself away from your twitter feed.

Hi this is someone else from the previous commenter.

I read this as closely as I could and found it too full of margarine to really take anything from. It seems the author is playing language games—but games are supposed to be fun and I didn't have fun or really take anything away from what they had to say.

Was Cahokia civilization? Was the Iroquois confederation a State? How come when Indians who came from the Pacific were driven out by Indians from Beringia or vice-versa it isn't typically consider settler colonialism? What's there to say about Indians who collaborated with the British, or kept slaves and created massive plantations? What's there to say about tribes like the Chickamauga, or the Seminole, and the complications and intricacies of their traditions (or lack of)? How about the influence of the Christian church on the rez, the thoughtless parroting of the bible we've all heard from aunties, and even today? How should we orient ourselves towards Indian veterans and the fetish of the US military so prevalent in Indian communities?

Not going to even start or try about "Capitalism". "Nature". "The State". These are all phantasms. Rationalizations. Straw dogs and sparring dummies.

it's like this author was smart enough to grasp the power of a thesis and central line of an argument that seems fortuitous, "you can't define me", but has none of the scaffolding necessary in place to explain it to other people

i can't take anyone serious who refers to your average brad or sharon as a "settler colonialist" because they're driving SUVs and dipping chicken tendies in sauce on land that was taken through violence decades if not centuries ago

i feel pity and sympathy for anyone who in lamenting their current circumstance uses things like history or tradition, ideology, etc. to whine and complain and lash out. just let go and stop clinging to the past (something totally illusory, like the future), to things out of your control

If any of the new editors are reading this: get Mallory Wournos back! Twitter banned her. I miss her fire and brimstone.

Dear Mallory,
Stop impersonating us, shitass. This is not some spree killer fan forum were there are no consequences to your cringe edgelord LARPs. You will never write for the new Black Seed journal.

Dear "Black Seed Editors"

I am not scared to hide, so no that wasn't me. I'm not offended that you don't want me to write for your journal. I hope it's successful and makes an impact because we need more indigenous anarchist content. You really don't need to say I'm "creaming myself" (weird) for mass shooters or whatever. It's clear I'm talking about the societal conditions that create such monsters but go off.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Mallory W.

It's good that you accept that you will never write for the new Black Seed journal of Indigenous Anarchy. But you need not explain to Indigenous Anarchists that we need more Indigenous anarchist content. Let's put this all behind us.

If your writing is constantly being misinterpreted as a glorification of "such monsters" then consider your writing and don't blame the reader.

I reconsidered Mallory W's writing by going back to the three editions of Black Seed she was published in and I am really looking forward to her contribution to #9.

You act like I asked to be in your journal, I don't know where you got that information but they were incorrect.

Your whole thing, It's called a knee-jerk reaction to writing that you find uncomfortable. I'm talking about people like Lanza who were born out of a culture of extreme violence, it's the same violence YOU write about. A culture where we have been atomized and blah blah blah just kidding it's all about how much I love mass shooters uwu! But I won't *explain* anything to you lest I offend your sensibilities, because I have a feeling you know what I'm talking about but don't want to walk anything back because you'll lose clout from all your morally pure readers.

Plenty of people haven't mislead others about what I write about, so yes I am going to blame your reading. Anyways, you clearly have a view of me that's not going to change, but again, don't worry, I never cared nor asked to be part of the new Black Seed. Just want to make that clear. I'm not even writing for people asking me to write. /shrug. Consider me retired until I decide I'm not.
