Explain Deleuze to Me

Just read what gets you pumped, friend. If Deleuze doesn't do it for you, don't do it. Why make work for yourself?

In the most general sense, I think the attraction to deleuze is in the openness of his work. He’s not so much focused on a critique of the usual systems that anarchists tend to oppose, but a reimagining of our relationships to them. It’s about concepts as opposed to polemics. The challenge here is that his work is very academic, often opaque, and references a wide range of works the average anarchist reader will need to become somewhat familiar with to follow along. Not knowing what type of texts you enjoy, I’d recommend starting with A Thousand Plateaus. I wouldn’t start from the beginning, but jump around and see if anything sparks your interest. If it does, you’ll have plenty of other texts to read as you work through it. I’d also highly recommend looking for a reading group or even just listening to some podcasts. There’s very little agreement, even amongst deleuze scholars, regarding his work, so there’s a chance that someone’s take will resonate with you if you cast a wide net. Hope this helps.
