dyslexic fonts

this forum topic comes via the library IRC, anonymous asks:

what if I'm disabled & I want a disabled font but I don't like the dyslexic font ....

is that my only option? are there other disabled fonts out there? are there any disabled type designers?

One response so far,
there is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atkinson_Hyperlegible

Can you be more specific about what specific "dyslexic font" you don't like and how you are using that on the library?

One way to change the font type and size is by adding the text to the library bookbuilder and then using the options provided to change the font / size / custom. There is a possibility of adding more fonts to the list of options if there is a non-proprietary font you like.

Like the other person suggested there's atkinson hyperlegible, but you could also try using firefox's reader mode, if you're using that browser. It has a text to speech option that you might find helpful?

i think including an option to use a font like opendyslexic.org or atkinson hyperlegible as mentioned before would be a great addition.

I use the readapt web extention, it works a lot better than any of the fonts I've seen. It works on word and web browsers, I STRONGLY recommend. I could barely read before I found out about it
