Elitist, gated communities. Not anarchist. Discuss.

Seems more communist than anything. And it's a program. Prescriptionist, embarrassingly utopian, political. Very political. Not my cup of tea.

I'd recommend Ernst Jüngers "Eumeswil" above it any day of the week.

Hello Anonymous poster,

First, I edited your original post to add a link to the text on The Anarchist Library for readers. Ideally, each new forum topic on SHH! would include a link to a text on the library.

Second, your post doesn't really say much and is a good example of what we're not trying to do on this forum. Your post really is a questionable one-liner, split up into three sentences that doesn't explain any of your actual thoughts behind your comments that then asks other participants to share ideas. Why not start the conversation yourself and share with us why you think the text is "elitist, gated community" that is "not anarchist?"

I didn't start this forum topic, nor did I say anything otherwise. I actually have never read this book, although I do have a copy of it that is waiting to be opened. It's on the list to read, for sure and has come highly recommended by friends with many references and insights over the years.

It seems to me people are missing the point of this book. To me it's an exercise in imagination. It shows how differently things could be in an anarchist direction. Its fiction. I dont think the author wants people to actually go out and live like that(which would make it NOT prescriptionist). I do agree its pretty utopian and some parts were too idealist for me but I also appreciate it for what it is. A fun little fiction book made to stimulate your ideas about what's possible. Calling Bolo'bolo a "program" is silly as fuck.

bolo'bolo is the least prescriptive utopian exercise that is even half way in the anarchist wheelhouse. and yea, it's funny and thought provoking and has kernels of awesome, like the concept of no one having more than will fit into a trunk, and feuding as a conflict resolution option, and suicide pills for all.
utopian constructs are only good as far as they are taken lightly as imagination prompts, which sure, can be subjective. to me it's obvious that pm was not taking himself seriously, and b'b definitely stoked my imagination.
